The next games day is Saturday
27th May 2006, starting 11am in Meadow Park, Bathgate.
On games day, juvenile
sections of the following events are held:
 |
| This
pipe band contest started in1972 one year before the Highland
Games began. Since then, we have hosted the British and
European Championships. Our pipe band contest consists of all
grades and attracts around eighty bands.
The
contest is supported by the Royal
Scottish Pipe Band Association Lothian and Borders Branch who supply the
Judges and make up the results.
Juvenile
bands can enter our Novice Juvenile grade section. Further
information can be found on the games website:

Incorporated
in our pipe band championship is our drum majors contest, which is also
well attended.
The competition is
divided into two sections: adult and juvenile.
Just as with the pipe
bands, the drum majors contest is supported by the Royal Scottish Pipe
Band Association Lothian and Borders Branch who judge the competition.

|
 |
| The solo
piping competition has been running as long as the games themselves.
Many talented young
people have come through the juvenile ranks such as Clare Lynas and Chris
Armstrong. This is a very popular event, and there are always
more pipers than we can accommodate for time.

Highland
dancing
has been a major part of Bathgate Highland Games since the games
commenced in 1973. The convener for the past 25 years has been Mr Alex Neill,
who became a part of the games when his
daughter used to dance here. His daughter went on to win the World
Championship.
Over
the years Bathgate Highland Games has seen dancers of all ages
and abilities and we have watched many young beginners blossom
into exceptional adult dancers. Dancers come from all areas of
Scotland to take part and we have also played host to many foreign
dancers. Some of the dancers from the earlier years are now returning
to judge the games.
